Launched in 2010, the inaugural Reminders Project Asian Photographers Grant opened for submissions in April 2011. In the months that followed, we received interesting project proposals from all over Asia. Through a private vetting process, five finalists were selected by our jury panel from the submissions received. The finalists were announced in September 2011, and their work was showcased weekly on Invisible Photographer Asia – the official media partner of the grant.
The winner of the inaugural Reminders Project Asian Photographers Grant was announced at the 7th AngkorPhoto Festival on 25 November 2o11, following a screening of the work of all five finalists.
As the winner of the grant, Andri Tambunan was awarded USD3ooo and a voucher from Blurb to continue his project Against all Odds, which looks at the AIDS/HIV pandemic in Papua, Indonesia. His work will also be exhibited at the 8th Angkor Photo Festival in 2o12.
